Hi Jess. I only work in areas of the world that experience wildfire naturally. In these places, the wildlife is well adapted to fires, the animals know that they need to run away from the fires (fires don’t usually travel very fast).

In the UK, where fires are not so common, we have wildlife experts that check the areas that we will burn before we burn, they capture any small animals (like snakes and reptiles) and keep them safe when we do the burning, and then let them back into the wild when we’re finished.

At one of our fires, the BBC came and filmed what we were doing, here is a newsround video about the fires and about the wildlife that were saved: http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/14364162
