• Question: Does the fire go out on it's own or do you have to put it out yourself?

      Hey Jess, generally the fires we set on purpose burn out by themselves. We make sure that the small patch of land we burn is surrounded by a “fire break”. A fire break is a corridor of bare land that surrounds the patch we want to burn. Once the fire reaches the edge of the patch, it doesn’t have anything else to burn, so it just stops.

      Sometimes, we have firefighters who make sure that it doesn’t spread any further, they can use water hoses, but also big fan-like beaters to put out the fire.
