People always say that science don’t have enough money, which is on one side true and on the other false. Science gets a lot of money, but not always in the most useful areas. What happens really often is that funding agencies will fund a very popular project, probably just because it sounds really cool, and then forget about less popular (but equally important and interesting) branches of science!

I strongly believe that a change in the science funding is necessary. At the moment, science is driven by funding. This means that we research what our funding agencies tell us to research because they are the only people to pay us. In a more optimistic future, scientists won’t have to rely on funding agencies so much and could actually research the areas they are most interested in.

Yes, I do! Every year there are more and more people doing science and looking for opportunities to do research, and right now the hardest thing about the job, as Tom said, is finding money! We could learn so much about the world and science, but we need money to pay people to do it!

Well money is not everything, but it certainly helps to make life of scientists easier and I think we should always remember how many discoveries were made due to basic research, which did not have any application implied but then became so useful

Absolutely, science has provided so much to our quality of life. The only way to solve the huge problems that we face with a growing population and a changing climate is to invest in science.
