Why not? I chose to become a physicist quite randomly actually. After high school I was sure I was to become an engineer and I had already passed the test for the best uni in Italy for engineers, but one day in August I woke up and said to myself “you know what? I don’t want to just use technology, I want to discover new things and push the boundaries of human knowledge” … So I ended up enrolling into Physics instead of Engineering!
Yeah, go for it! More than anything, though, I think you should do/learn what you love. Don’t be a scientist or a doctor just because you “wanna be a scientist/doctor”. Do it because you love learning about science, or because you love helping heal people.
Your life plans are probably going to change a LOT (I know mine did!). Keep following your passions and eventually you will find what’s right for you! =)
I think you’re probably already a scientist! but if you want to make it your job, then absolutely! Remember, there are lots and lots of different types of scientists. Always go for what you’re most interested in. 🙂
