      Hi Connor,
Getting a job as a scientist isn’t easy. Like all jobs, you need to have a combination of training and experience, and to do my job you need to have experience of doing research, but also of teaching students. I studied for many years at university, eight years in total, and some of the work during those years was very difficult and on a few occasions I thought I was going to give up.

Whilst it is hard to get the job you love, the whole process has mostly been a lot of fun, which is the most important thing after all!
