Fire is fascinating. I was first asked to make measurements of a fire by accident. I had to fly to Canada where there were fires burning through the mountain forests of Alberta, when I saw the huge flames and smoke plume rising into the sky, I was hooked!

The more I read about fire, the more I became interested. Wildfires are a huge source of pollution into our atmosphere. Almost a fifth of human greenhouse gas emissions come from forest fires. I’m really interested in trying to fix our planet’s climate, finding ways to combat greenhouse gas emissions. Most forest fires and bushfires are purposefully set by humans for clearing land. If we can discourage this activity, we can help reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
